- Should you trade your current vehicle in when you buy a new car?
Trading your old vehicle is always a mistake, at least from a financial perspective. It’s the easiest path to take and that’s why so many people do trade their vehicles. In all cases every dealer will offer you less money than your vehicle is worth. They will tell you that you will pay less sales tax on the total deal, which is true but that never comes close to the amount you would receive if you did not trade in the vehicle. We recommend that you first get a price from Carvana as a starting point. Carvana is super easy to use, it only takes 10 minutes to get an online offer from Carvana. They will actually come to your house and pickup your vehicle and they will bring a check with them to pay you when they do this, it’s super easy. Beyond Carvana you should also check out cars.com, carguru.com and caredge.com. Additionally you may find that you will get the most for your trade by selling to a private owner. In this case, Facebook Marketplace is the goto place to do this.
- How long does it take to receive a confirmation after placing your order?
You will receive a confirmation email on the next business day after you place your order.
- What will you receive after placing your order?
You will receive an email with instructions on how to access the members-only section of the site. This will guide you step-by-step thru the entire process of selecting and buying your new vehicle at the lowest possible price.
- Can you lease a vehicle at the lowest possible price using our service?
If you prefer to lease your vehicle you can easily transition a deal to a lease. As a starting point you know how much the vehicle is if you were to purchase it. This price should be carried forward onto your lease agreement. Before signing any lease papers make sure that the “money factor” of the lease is acceptable. The dealership will give you this number. The money factor is stated as a decimal number which is designed to confuse you. In example, a money factor of .0025 is actually an interest rate of 6%. To convert a money factor to a percentage simply multiply it by 2,400. So 2400 x .0025 equals 6%. Some dealerships will markup the money factor to make more money on the deal, so be careful.
- Do all dealers rip people off?
We have many years in the industry and yes all dealers will rip people off. Some more than others. Anyone that buys a vehicle unprepared will always over pay and make the sales person very happy in the process. When you follow our guideance you will realize that the small membership fee paid to carJimmy was well worth your investment.
- What if you want an add-on?
The biggest profit center for all dealerships takes place when you sit down with the finance person to sign papers. Every word that comes out of their mouth is scripted. Their number one goal is to sell you add-ons. Extended warranties are add-ons and as mentioned earlier we strongly recommend that you say no to extended warranties and go the third-party route for this. Other add-ons include options to get lifetime oil changes, tire warranties, paint and interior protection coverage. If you want any of these you should negotiate a lower price other than the one offered. A starting point would be to tell them you would do that add-on but only if it’s half the stated price. Every one of these add-ons are negotiable.
